Hello Friends, Marry Techy Christmas from Hackademic!
Technology has a power to change the way that how we see the world. Just think about our future. It will be full of all kind of Technology. The most impactful technologies will be Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Hacking and Crypto Currency.
Here we will talk about augmented reality and virtual reality in details with examples and easy tutorials. Because that’s the Technologies that will change the way we look at the world. Both the terms can be very interesting but the little bit confusing. Some people don’t know the difference between AR and VR. Don’t worry, after reading this, you might not be one of them.
This picture shows the basic difference between AR and VR.
Augmented Reality :
AR is the technology that layers computer-generated enhancements to an image of something to add digital information.
In short, Augmented reality is the combination of real world and virtual world. It adds something to the real world.
Augmented reality is used in the apps for mobiles and tablets. AR apps use the camera of our smartphone and display the view of the real world and then put a digital information like images and/or text on that view, in front of us.
Apps can use AR for information, such as the app layer, or for the fun, such as the game Pokémon GO.
The Layer app is designed to know the information of the place which is in front of us by using augmented reality. When you are visiting a place then you can use this app to read information of that place which is in the form of the layer over the view.
We can also find money machines, see real estate for sale, find restaurants, and more by using the AR feature of the app. We may even discover new sites that most of the people did not know that existed.
Layar is available free for Android on Google Play and iPhone and iPad at the iTunes App Store. So, you can check this out.
Virtual Reality :
Virtual Reality is defined as the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment.
When we view VR, we are viewing a completely different reality than the one in front of us.
Virtual reality creates a different world which is not connected to real world.
Virtual reality may be artificial, such as an animated scene, or an actual place that has been photographed and included in a virtual reality app.
With virtual reality, we can see all around of us in the virtual world and look in every direction — up, down, sideways and behind us, as if we were physically there.
We can experience virtual reality through a special type of device which is known as VR viewer, such as the Oculus Rift. Other virtual reality viewers use our phone and specially created VR apps, such as Google Cardboard or Daydream View.
With virtual reality apps, we can explore the places without physically visiting, such as the top of Mt. Everest, the surface of Mars, or areas deep under the sea.
There is a virtual reality app from The New York Times which lets us an experience of virtual environments on the Earth and other planets.
Google Earth is also an example of virtual reality.
